As soon as settlement began, local residents organized churches. On March 17, 1871, the first meeting of the Litchfield Ministerial Association was held in Litchfield. At this time there were five congregations meeting in the village. These strengthened the bonds of community, especially for new immigrants who continued to worship in their native language. Today there are more than a dozen churches in the city. This tour takes you to thirteen sites, representing a wide variety of architectural styles.
